Isabella, Rotten Speller is, I hope, a winning combination of educational and daft.<\/p>\n

It is set in Rhyme, a place where everything and everybody is made of letters and words \u2013 so I hope that children just beginning to learn their letter shapes \u2013 as well as more advanced young readers (and even adults, for that matter!) \u2013 will enjoy spotting all the letters I\u2019ve used in the pictures.<\/p>\n

It has been a fun, but time-consuming, challenge; creating people, animals, houses, trees, insects and a whole lot of other things entirely from letters.<\/p>\n

Can you imagine a place like that? <\/strong>
\nWhere every dog and every cat,<\/strong>
\nAnd every owl and every bat,<\/strong>
\nAnd even the children, come to that,<\/strong>
\nWere made of letters and sometimes words?<\/strong>
\nI know, the whole thing sounds absurd.<\/strong><\/p>\n

(By the way, how many letter-frogs can you find lurking in the 32 pages of this book?)<\/p>\n

\"frog\"<\/a>But back to the plot: all is happy in the town of Rhyme until the unexpected arrival of a little witch\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026 the witch\u2019s name was Isabella; <\/strong>
\nA lovely girl but a rotten speller.<\/strong>
\nSo when she tried to cast her spell,<\/strong>
\nThings really didn\u2019t turn out well<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chaos ensues as Isabella\u2019s rotten spells and rotten spelling wreak havoc on the word-based nation, until\u2026<\/p>\n

But I don\u2019t want to spoil it for you! You\u2019ll have to read the book to find out what happens next \u2013 though I can assure you that a happy ending for (almost) all is guaranteed!<\/p>\n

A rhyming picture book for children from 3 to 8 years, with colourful letter-based pictures on every page. An engaging story to listen to or look at at bedtime, or a good book for early readers. Paperback, 32 pages.<\/em><\/p>\n
